Traveling with your pet may seem like a challenge, but it doesn’t need to be! There are a number of things you can do to prepare for a smooth trip.
Here are 3 tips for traveling with your pets:
- Make sure your pet’s vaccinations are all up to date. It’s ideal to visit the veterinarian prior to your trip to get any vaccines and/or records to prove that your pet is fully vaccinated. While it might not be an issue, some states do require you to have proof of rabies vaccines.
- Prepare a travel kit for your pet. You’ll want to bring pet food, bottled water, pet food and water bowls, a leash, treats, a waste scoop and plastic bag or a litter box and kitty litter, and any medications that your pet needs.
- Book ahead of time if you’re staying at a hotel. Pet-friendly hotels can be difficult to find and, as a result, they may book earlier than regular hotels. You’ll want to book a hotel that will allow you to bring your pet ASAP. Petswelcome.com is just one of the many search engines that can help you find a place to stay.
These are just 3 tips for traveling with your pets! Although traveling with a dog or cat in tow can seem like a challenge, your trip can be a lot easier with the right preparations in place.
