A few years ago, I took over leading my daughter’s Girl Scout troop. We had 4 girls and $5. Being the thrifty gal I am, I managed to get very creative until fundraising time that fall. We had toilet paper tube crafts, our first camp out was in my backyard, etc.
Now, we are in pretty decent shape but I’d still rather have our troop funds go to community service projects or learning events for the girls instead of always buying patches ($18 for each patch, for the entire troup). I was delighted to find out that there were at least five FREE patches that the girls could earn — online!
For Daisies and Browies, the Mattel/Barbie: “Be Anything, Do Everything”
The partnership is founded on the development of activities that encourage and inspire girls around the country to explore a variety of careers. With the core theme “Be Anything, Do Everything,” this partnership reaches girls online and offline, and includes: a downloadable workbook, online games/tools, and a patch free via mail. How about teaching them STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) ?
For the Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior, and Ambassadors, there is the patch from Consumer’s Energy!
You get your 8 page workbooks HERE and order the patches HERE
Cabot has TWO for us!
One explaines the power of Co-Ops and one the reason why we need calcium. Both patches were designed by a fellow Girl Scout and have detailed explanations for their design. Coolness!

Heart Disease is the number one killer of women — so it’s good to educate our girls! There is a nice program HERE from the Christ Hospital.
I hope that helps your troop — many things will blend with your Journey books!
