5 Uses for Vinegar Around the House

5 Uses for Vinegar Around the House
Cooking isn’t the only use for vinegar. It can be used in so many ways around the house it may was well be an all purpose tool. Here are just 5 uses for vinegar around the house, there are a TON more out there but these are my favorite. I use these methods weekly!*Some of these uses will be on furniture, I haven’t had a problem with discoloration but you may want to test an inconspicuous spot if you’re worried about colorfastness.*
1. Remove Water Rings on Furniture
Water rings are unsightly and can ruin furniture forever. You can easily rid yourself of those stains. All you have to do is mix an equal amount of vinegar and olive oil then apply it to the area going WITH the wood grain. If you happen to get water rings on your leather furniture (I won’t ask how), use full-strength white vinegar and sponge it away.
2. Remove Candle Wax
Getting candle wax on furniture or on the carpet is a mess and can be seriously tough to clean up. Use a blow drier on its highest setting to first soften the wax. After it’s near re-melted consistency use some paper towels to get up as much as you can. Then, using an equal mixture of water and vinegar soak a cloth and scrub the wax out. You may need to wipe it clean with a dry cloth.
3. Clean Chrome and Stainless Steel
This one is really simple. Throw some vinegar in a spray bottle and mist your dirty chrome or stainless steel. Buff out the dirt and grime with a soft cloth to you don’t scratch the surface.
4. Refresh Your Refrigerator
Again using equal parts water and vinegar use the solution to wipe down the interior walls of your refrigerator. Paying special attention to the undersides of the shelves and the vegetable/fruit drawers. Pro tip: Use this same method around the seals of the fridge where grime likes to accumulate.
5. Obliterate Mildew
For mildew, anywhere, any place, and any time. If there’s a large accumulation use full-strength vinegar and scrub it away. For not-so-bad mildew dilute the vinegar just a bit and scrub it away.
