I have great news! I can cook more and worry less. The Sizzle Sensor Non-stick Pan from Allrecipes has an INDICATOR that changes colors so I don’t toss the food in too early or too late. Beautiful idea! This is important because I’m not a pro and I often wonder if the pan is hot enough or too hot. No more wondering or worrying.
I’m the first to admit that I have an eventual knack for destroying my cookware or at the very least, accidentally ruining them. Doesn’t seem to matter whether they’re stainless steel, non-stick, copper, carbon steel. You name it; over time, I put an absolute end to its beautiful beginnings. I’m a hard sell on new kitchen gear, but these Sizzle Sensor pans are very different from any pans I’ve used in the kitchen.
I’m secretly envious of people who somehow manage to scrub every single spot off the bottom and inside of their pans and they still look amazing after years of use! Some folks even hang their pans outside of the cabinets. Really! They still look great. How do they do that? Well, Pinterest offers oodles of neat DIY ideas for how to remove burn spots and dark circle crud from the bottoms of our favorite pans without having to let them soak overnight. Honestly though, what I wouldn’t give to have a pan that I don’t have to worry about. I just want to cook; not mix this baking soda with that smelly vinegar (don’t get me wrong, it DOES work) But I’m just not a fan of making a paste to do a chore I would love to avoid. I absolutely hate the smell of vinegar. So I open my cabinet to pull out a pan and almost always grab my iron skillet because I know if I mess up anything, the cast iron will forgive me. If you’ve used them, you know. You just know. Forgiveness is important in the kitchen.
The Allrecipes Sizzle Sensor pans are made with aluminum and a quad-layer Granitec non-stick coating. Sounds complicated but what that means is the multilayer ceramic non-stick coating is of high quality (actually Swiss technology) and is reinforced for durability and “high demand” use. Sounds good to me! Because of this impressive coating, the recommended cleaning tool is Nylon and there is emphasis on avoiding any Overheating! The nylon sponges are widely available, so that’s convenient, and yes, watch your temps. (low to medium heat is perfect). NO abrasive sponges or scouring pads unless you want to reduce the nonstick effect, discolor the pan and scratch it to death! NO thank you! I’ve done quite enough of that on accident with my other pans. While most nonstick pans are dishwasher safe, it’s not recommended for these Sizzle Sensor pans. I’m ok with that. After a few weeks of use, I actually do not mind hand washing them because even when I was lazy-cooking (you know what I mean), NOTHING sticks to these pans! You can “season” them with a little coconut or olive oil after towel-drying them (drying avoids water spots) just as I’m accustomed to doing with my iron skillet. It’s a neat little thing and bumped the pans up a notch in my book.
What I also love about the nonstick coating is the actual LOOK of it. The coated ceramic interior is black with white speckles. Remember the Granite ware enamel black and white speckled roasting pans that were famous for cooking turkey’s, hams and big roasts? This is the look. I LOVE the interior of the Sizzle Sensor pans!!!
I’ll admit, it’s not my favorite color (orange) on the outside of the pan, but they’re so awesome that they could be lime green or fuschia for all I care! (Not that there’s anything wrong with those colors).
However, because of the color, I can’t wait to get a set for my bestie (Angie) for her birthday! She loves orange. She and her hubby enjoy cooking so they’re a great gift idea for them and it’s double the fun for anyone that likes orange.
Strangely enough, because of the Sensor on the handles, these pans have changed a few of my weird cooking habits and eliminated some common cookware issues. Let’s take pancakes for example. Lightly oil and heat the pan. After a few minutes, drop a bit of water in, if it and if it’ sizzles, voila! The frying pan is ready. It’s truly the idiot-proof cooking experience no matter how weird it may seem. But when I use the Sizzle Sensor pans, I don’t even have to rely on the water trick. Just by looking at the space on the handle that goes from the actual pan to the handle, I know it’s time to pour the chocolate chip batter and grab a spatula. By changing from black to red as it heats, there’s no question of whether the pan is ready. How cool is this?
They heat evenly, the soft grip handles are comfy, and the absolute BEST feature? The Sizzle Sensor indicator will change from black to red as soon as the pan is fully pre-heated so you can cook with CONFIDENCE. There’s no question I will always adore my good ole iron skillet, but it’s wonderful to give it a break, for a change.
I was grateful for the opportunity to review the Allrecipes Sizzle Sensor Non-stick Pans, but even more-so after using them regularly. They’re my favorite go-to now for scrambled eggs, french toast, steak, stir-fry, chicken breasts, cooking ground beef or turkey, grilled cheese, hamburgers, heating leftovers…OK they’re my favorite pans. Period.
