Would it be a holiday without stuffing or dressing to go alongside that baked turkey or roasted ham? Our family calls it “Dressing” because we usually take a store mix and “dress” it up. You can do Stove Top, Pepperidge Farm, etc – any of those will work. The end result is something totally “plate lickable” and your table guests think you spent hours on it. That is how our Classic Apple Sausage Walnut Dressing was born at our restaurant.

how to make incredible dressing and stuffing

While a lot of restaurants use mixes, instead of making things from scratch, to whip up entrees, we made most of our items from scratch. This is one exemption : our dressing. Base  mixes are pretty decent, but certainly need to be dressed up. You need more layers off flavors to aid the flavors, along with a little “crunch” and a little “chewey” to round it out. It also turns this heavy carbohydrate into something a little more nutritious.

Directions:

Whip of the Stuffing per the package directions. Stir in the apples, celery, onion, raisins, nuts and sausage. Pop into your casserole dish and let the flavors marry each other in the oven – for at least 30 minutes. It really is that simple, but the results? Roll-your-eyes-in-the-back-of-your-head-make-you-happy kind of deliciousness.

Seriously, it’s impressive and they will LOVE it!
