I’ve had a lot of non-stick cookware over the years and not all of it is created equal. I’ve had pans with the non-stick surface flaking off, pans that flat out lied when they claimed to be non-stick and pans that were functional but unattractive. The Mineral DS line by Bialetti addresses all of these issues and more.
Let’s start with how the pan looks. Most non-stick surfaces are a flat black – not Mineral DS. These pans have an eye-catching stoneware look that is attractive enough to be displayed in a rack and look nothing like traditional non-stick cookware.
The Mineral DS pan takes a new approach to non-stick cookware with what they call a “micro-divot” surface. This means that the surface of the pan is not smooth. What does this mean in terms of usage? Well, it means a non-stick cookware that you can use with a metal utensil. Your utensil will come in contact with the tiny bumps on the surface, not the non-stick coating itself. Even better, while the heavy gauge aluminum allows for good heat distribution, the divots in the surface of the pan help to create even distribution of oil in your pan – no more pools of oil on one side! This truly versatile pan is safe for gas, electric and induction stove tops and is oven safe up to 400 degrees!
Best of all is the non-stick surface itself. I have never used a non-stick pan that works so well. I cooked eggs for my family and was shocked at how readily they lifted from the pan. I eat egg substitute which tend to stick more than real eggs – not on the Bialetti Mineral DS Pan! Using this pan was an absolute joy and the cleanup was a breeze!
When it comes to non-stick cookware it always seems like you have to choose between a pan that looks good or a pan that works well. Not anymore. The Mineral DS line by Bialetti is the perfect combination of form and function and would be a welcome addition to any kitchen!
