They have NO
- produce department (other than a few bags of onions and potatoes — I got the last bag of apples)
- fresh deli department
- meat counter
- almost no paper goods (paper towels, tp, etc) – I was hoping for a deal for that $5 Bounty Q!
It’s either on the shelf, in a cooler or in a freezer with most aisles 2/3 empty.
Most of the store is 20% off — not a huge bargain. Example: Oreo Cookies $3.89 – then take 20% off to save about $.80. It is still over $3 a package … THEN you take coupons off. I am used to buying Nabisco Cookies when they are on sale for $2 and then taking off the coupon — so they are still high. Most meat items left and frozen items were too expensive (for me).
Milk and bread are not involved in the sale — they only had private label milk – at full price.
Deals to be had?
40% off personal care items in the pharmacy area.
I stocked up on tampons and pads — using expired high value Qs – and scored a few $1/1 U series peelies right on the boxes I bought – making them about $1 a box. I now have about 2 milk crates full of feminine hygiene items – ready for when the pantry asks for them.
Kool-Aid packets $.12 each — I used expired B10G5 coupons and am stocked up on Black Cherry and Pink Lemonade for next summer.
Canning Supplies Either 40 or 50% off, I would have to look at my receipt. I got Certo/Sure Jell for less than $.75 a box and had coupons for FREE sugar WYB2 of those….I stocked up on powdered and brown sugar for FREE
I used expired Qs for FREE hot dogs, FREE Lipton 20 teas, a lot of $.50/2 S&W beans, etc – ten $.25/1 canned pumpkin, and also stocked up on baked beans. I was going to get dry beans but saw NONE.
There wasn’t one juice box to be had — I had a lot of exp $1/1 Minute Maids ready….(sigh). They love them at church!
Candy is only 20% off — I got 22 FREE Hershey Air WYB Hershey chocolate bars with 22 exp Qs for those — making them all $.30 each — They are all tucked in a Tupperware Modular Mate and ready for S’more season…and a few holiday gift baskets!
Office Supplies 60% off — I got 6 packages of glue sticks for about the same price I bought them at the back to school sales…
Alcohol 20% off. — we don’t really drink so I have no idea if the prices were good, LOL! Seriously, I got thru a bottle of Kaluha maybe every 2 years…….and have had the same bottle of brandy for over 5. We LOVE Brandy Old Fashioned Sweets but rarely make them. They had a LOT of alcohol.
Greeting cards 75% off. Some ladies were seriously going over them – as a scrapbooker, I make my own so any price is too much, LOL!
They did take all my Register Rewards (I even had some expired ones from Mom!) along with my coupons but did NOT take my $20 Cub Credit — I will have to use it tomorrow at Cub West when I take my Father In Law to his doctor appointment. That will be a produce run as I was planning on getting more today than I could.
I think that covers most of the info — I did take my coupon box besides my expired collection and was surprised at how “little” deals there were at this point. However… I DID manage to fill a cart, LOL!
138 Items ($229.62) for $67.14, saving $162.48 or 71%
There is NO WAY I would have done this well if I didn’t have the $28 in Register Rewards to use and would have been almost 10% BETTER if they had taken that $20 Cub coupon.
I spent more there than I had planned on … but did stock up on beans like I had planned.
