If you are thinking about a trip to the “happiest place on earth”, you might want to start with this FREE DVD — you also get different special offers and discounts!
We have usually stayed at the Contemporary when we have been to Disney and are in the new Princess Rooms this time.
There are fun little touches here for any little princess.
First of all, a portrait of Tianna…
Then the magical beds where “Fireworks” are merely at a touch of a button.
From the “firework beds” to the message left for the guests on the table.
Leave it to the magical memory makers of Disney to think of so many different details.
Just look at the characters in the wallpaper
And in the bathroom…shades of Ariel:
How about an Ottoman/ luggage holder right out of Belle’s castle?
Pictures of Tianna’s princess friends
And let’s not forget about the princes…
How does Miss Sarah feel about the room?
We had never taken Miss Sarah to Hollywood Studios before so this entire place was new to her (and us)!
We had planned to spend the day here and had our dining reservations all lined up in advance.
Why did we pick those places?
Ok, now that you know where we ate and what we had — let’s fill you in on some FUN.
Here our Disney Hollywood Studios Tips:
First: Get your picture taken when you enter the Park, in front of Mickey’s Hat is a great location. The photographer will take a photo on a Photopass card and with your own camera.
Then, the Great Movie Ride. The only scary part for Miss Sarah was the segment of the movie Alien. (we covered her eyes)
Then Muppet Vision 3D – closed for renovations during our visit but….when you go:
work your way down to the bottom (lower) waiting area. You still get a good view of the pre-show and when you enter the theater, you are sitting closer to the screen and you get to enjoy more of the special effects. But when the doors open to enter the theater, let few people go in front of you. The first people in have to move all the way across and this will leave you a seat in the middle.
Rockin Rollercoaster (fast pass) – When you ride the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, if you want to try to sit in the front car, get in line on the right side. (There will be two lines). You can also ask the cast member if you can sit in the front yow. You may have to wait a little bit longer, but they will accommodate you
Tower of Terror? – Do not miss for any reason riding the Tower of Terror. I am afraid of heights but this ride is so amazing you MUST do it. It doesn’t feel in your stomach like the falls in a roller coaster, it just feels amazing, like floating. I guarantee that you will enjoy it and it won’t hurt a bit.
Backlot Studio Tour time!
They will ask if there are four volunteers who don’t mind getting wet.
Jump at it!
We have never eaten with the Disney Dining Plan before but are this time around. I did a LOT of homework on this one…oiy!
First of all, can I say – what the heck?
The tips that some “expert” Disney people share are occasionally surprising. I particularly enjoyed the gal who was telling people that the “Toppings Bar” for burgers and sandwiches are basically just a salad bar! All you need (she said) was an extra plate or bowl and you could score a free meal for at least one person.
Ummm — and she is the one you see stealing all the little creamers, sugar packets and jellies off the table at a restaurant.
PLEASE do not do anything like that!
You CAN eat well on the dining plan and I will share my “restaurant review” after our trip. We will NOT be eating at any place twice!
I felt that the best plan was the one that had one quick/counter service, one table service and one snack per day. This is known as the “Dining Program“. Meals include drink (non alcoholic) , entrée and dessert. Table service includes several character meals/buffets and, it does NOT include alcohol or tips. I wouldn’t tip a counter service but would tip a table service employee.
Now, if you are lucky enough to book when they have a FREE dining program for your packages – GO FOR IT! It will save you a lot of time planning your meals.
***Here is the big thing that a lot of people miss***
You have to make reservations for Table Service Meals! The sooner the better, if you want to eat at YOUR time vs THEIR times left. Our trip is in August but I made our dinner reservations in February. Seriously.
Here is our round-up of planned meals:
We have some of the snacks planned out too — but that is another post, for another day.
Y’all know I LOVE Disney, right!?
Everything from the movies to the theme park… I think it is all great family entertainment.
When I was a kid, we watched The Muppet Show every week, faithfully. I was so tickled when they came out with a new movie a few years ago so Miss Sarah could see some the cool things that were created… and now, there is a NEW Muppet Movie coming out!
The Muppets go on a world tour and Kermit’s Evil look-alike causes trouble that can only follow the Muppets.
Muppets Most Wanted is set to hit the theaters in March of 2014 but I have a sneak peek for you — enjoy it!
I know I love Disney Movies and they really seem to be on a roll this year!
Planes is the hottest new animation feature of theirs and seems to have a great message to “face your fears” as a plane wants to be a racer but is afraid of heights. (crack me up!)
Everyone from Dane Cook to Teri Hatcher does a voice in this — I can’t wait to see it.
