Don’t you just love cleaning the bathroom? For the majority, the answer is a resounding NO! Cleaning the bathroom feels like the most dreaded chore, and can sometimes take hours to clean. Doing regular deep cleaning and daily clean-ups can make sure your bathroom is always in tip top shape! If your bathroom needs a serious deep cleaning, here is how you can deep clean your bathroom like a pro.

1. Gather your Supplies

The first thing you need to do is gather all the supplies you’ll need to clean your bathroom from top to bottom. Here are some of the supplies you might need to give your bathroom a truly deep clean:

meal plan month one
  • All-purpose cleaner
  • Cleaning Rags, paper towels, and/or cleaning brushes
  • Baking Soda
  • Vinegar
  • Rubber gloves
  • Swiffer, broom, and/or mop
  • Glass cleaner
  • Toilet bowl cleaner

2. Make a Checklist of Everything you Need to Clean

Before you even pick up a cleaning rag, take a piece of paper and create a master cleaning checklist to make sure every square inch gets clean. Here are some common areas you might add to your list:

  • Counter tops
  • Faucets
  • Mirrors
  • Toilet (seat, etc)
  • Door handles
  • Bath tub
  • Shower head and doors
  • Light fixtures
  • Window seal (if you have one)
  • Floors
  • Grout
  • Trash can
  • Bath mats

3. Clean your Bathtub and/or Shower

Cleaning your bathtub or shower will likely be the task that requires the most elbow grease. Start with a simple all-purpose cleaner of your choice to get the job done. If your bathtub or shower has built up stains, you might need to put a layer of baking soda in the tub or shower and let it sit for about 30 minutes. You can do this for the shower head, bathtub fixtures, and shower doors. If you do need to use baking soda, clean something else while you’re waiting. When the time is up, scrub with a rag or sponge.

4. Clean the Toilets

Out of all the areas in your bathroom, your toilet is the dirtiest. You can use all-purpose cleaner, baking soda, vinegar, or even toilet cleaner to get the job done. Whatever you choose, you want to make sure you are cleaning every square inch! A good scrubbing brush will help you out big time. Make sure you get the outside, inside of the toilet, and even  behind it. If you are still smelling any odors, let some baking soda sit to take care of the smell.

5. Clean your Sink

If you are wiping down your sink and mirror every day, this area should stay fairly clean, but that doesn’t mean it won’t need a good deep cleaning. Pour vinegar and baking soda down the drain to unclog your drain, take time to really scrub your counters, ledges, faucet, fixtures, and the mirrors.

6. Clean the Floors

Most bathrooms have tile floors, so you’ll want to start by sweeping or vacuuming your floors to get any dust and dirt off the floor. Then, give the grout a good deep cleaning by using a toothbrush or bristle brush and some cleaner. Next, mop the floor. You can either use a regular mop or a wet swiffer if you have it. You may need to mop twice if your floor is really dirty.

Cleaning the bathroom might still feel like a chore, however daily clean-ups will help keep your bathroom tidy and deep cleaning sessions to a minimum.
