That there only 74 days left until Christmas?
(you are welcome for that…LOL)
If you are cringing now — relax!
We will cover some FUN and FRUGAL ideas over the next month to get through the holidays – ranging from children’s activities, holiday baking, home made gift ideas and more!
When I had the restaurant and catering company – the holidays were an INSANE time for us!
We made over 500 pies for Thanksgiving customers alone — then add in all the holiday parties, cookies trays, etc….
We simply didn’t have time to “do” Christmas preparations after November 1st — so we got it all done BEFORE then and were ready to enjoy the day when it came, almost two months later.
I also worked about 80 hours a week and made less than $20,000 a year…so penny pinching was a no-brainer.
Where do you start?
Make a list of WHO you need/want gifts for – don’t forget to add in the $5 gift for bowling league, the kid’s teachers – even the person who brings you your Sunday paper. Do you send for a lot of free samples/etc – you might even want to add a plate of cookies for your mail carrier (as a govenrment employee they can’t take monetary gifts but most LOVE cookies!)
THEN, comes the budget.
How much can you spend on each person?
How do I look at it? The core of my family gets the bulk of my budget (kiddo the highest) and the farther out of my family, the smaller % of my budget. It’s OK to have $2 for a person — we will cover ideas that inexpensive later
So — to start things off – make your list and break it down — ideas come next!
If you are stressing out about that budget that you do not seem to have — it’s OK! We have a LOT of ideas coming up to make it less stressful.
