Whether you are doing it for health and fitness or just to feel good about how you look, there’s no doubt about it – dieting is hard. While it’s difficult enough to make lifestyle changes, one of the hardest parts, for me anyway, is to get past the idea that I am denying myself. I look at the food on my plate, knowing that it’s enough but seeing expanses of white plate and feel like it’s not enough and that makes it harder to stick with a plan. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way because Livliga exists to help!
Founded in 2011 by Sheila Kemper Dietrich, Livliga is a pioneer in portion control with the goal to help you eat well and healthy while feeling good about what you are doing. We’ve all heard the expression that “we eat with our eyes first”. Livliga took that idea and came up with something truly revolutionary. Sheila spent time researching the concept that our bodies look for visual cues to tell us how much to eat and created a line of dishes that speak directly to that idea.
All of Livliga’s plates, bowls, and cups give you portion control indicators to let you know how much of each food category to put on your plate. There are even helpful “maps” on the back to guide you. Best of all, they are beautiful! Anyone who’s been on a diet knows the humiliation of trying to portion control in front of other people and having that just scream “diet” in big letters. Livliga’s dishes are gorgeous and if you didn’t know what the designs on the plates indicate, you wouldn’t think anything of them.
The Livliga line is incredibly thoughtful with no detail left to chance. The size of the plate, the colors, words, plate rim/food area proportion have all been considered to give you the visual and mental cues to feel satisfied by sensible portions. Look at these two plates:
One of them looks like it’s not enough while the other looks like a full and satisfying meal. Well, it’s the same food on both plates! Bowls, cups and glassware are all designed with the same concept in mind.
To address rising childhood obesity, Livliga has also come out with a line of kid’s products. The dishes feature the same portion control concepts and feature cute drawings of the characters Sammie and Sax. The Kidliga line also comes with a great little storybook that helps teach children about the idea of eating well and establish good eating habits from the start. My daughter loves her Kidliga plates and takes an active role in filling each of the categories of food on her plate.
One of my favorite products in the Livliga line are the LivSpoons, a set of 4 measuring and serving spoons. These lovely spoons that nest together in a Fibonacci arc are a great way to serve the right portion size while not announcing to all present that you are dieting.
Living in a healthy, happy and vibrant way are the cornerstones of the Livliga message. Feeling good about ourselves and what we put into our bodies should be a goal we all share. Livliga products are the perfect tool to help you do just that.
