The concept is simple: The elf (you can name him) watches your family all day — and then reports back to Santa each night, but gets back JUST BEFORE the kids wake up in the morning, and is never in the same place twice. It encourages “nice” behavior instead of “naughty”.
Here is the thing…
We don’t really do the nice/naughty list as we believe in a life of grace and God’s never ending love/forgiveness for us — SO, our letter talked about how this little guy is a special friend of Santa’s who comes alive at night and tends to be a little naughty. Santa asked if Miss Sarah could help remind him to make smarter choices if he got into mischief.
I promise you, if you do this, you will have almost as much fun as your kiddos!
They wake up and hunt for your elf first thing in the morning…but also learn kind of a parenting lesson that will be invaluable for them. Make THEM responsible for cleaning up after their elf… and it doesn’t take long for them to draw a correlation to you taking care of THEM. (It makes things easier after Christmas).
