One of Miss Sarah and my guilty pleasures in winter is the Starbucks White Hot Chocolate. We will indulge in one after she has Nutcracker rehearsals or a long day selling Girl Scout Cookies.
Not only with this recipe tempt your taste buds, it will help save precious pennies that a coffee house that will charge you a fair price for the same thing.
White Hot Chocolate
- 2 Cups white chocolate chips
- 7 Cups milk
- ½ Cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 Tsp vanilla extract
- 1 Cup marshmallows
- 1 Cup mini marshmallows
- Golden brown sugar for rimming
Add the milk, sugar, cinnamon stick and vanilla extract to a sauce pan. Set it in the stove top over medium high heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes or until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the fire and add the chocolate chips and the marshmallows.
Stir until the chocolate is melted and everything is well incorporated.
Rim the jars or glasses with golden brown sugar and pour the white hot chocolate until full.
Top with the mini marshmallows. Serve and enjoy.
Tip: You can keep the same ratios and change the white chocolate chip for milk chocolate chips + 2 tbsp cocoa powder.
