I have shared with you before about Miss Sarah’s strange food allergy: basically, she is allergic to most fresh fruits and vegetables. It’s an off the chart tree pollen allergy and, unless the produce is processed in some way, she has a reaction when eating it.
–>That is why I LOVE things like Fruchi that just came out!
Miss Sarah can still get her servings of produce but never has to contend with miserable symptoms for doing so.
So, let me tell you a bit about this super cool new fruit smoothie on the market…
Fruchi comes to us from the people at Schwann’s — but can be bought at the store! You will find it in your freezer section at your local Woodman’s, HyVee or Festival Foods.
According to them:
Each smoothie comes in a handy grab-and-go pouch that has a tear-off top, so you can enjoy a smoothie anytime, anywhere on-the-go. Each 8oz serving has 100% DV of Vitamin C, a full fruit serving and made with all real fruit! We plan on moving into retail stores throughout Wisconsin, but also have two flavors available on the Schwan’s Home Service trucks.
The Fruchi pouches were very handy, but not so easy with the tear off top as we usually had to cut them open. Once you had it open, it was delicious! When you bring them home, you pop them in the freezer (helps eliminate a lot of preservatives) until you are ready to enjoy one. The instructions say to leave it sit out for 30 minutes, at room temperature, to be ready to taste but I found it was just as effective to put them in the fridge before going to bed so it would be perfect to rip into at breakfast.
Fruchi has a nice selection of flavors, two of them being new:
- Island Splash
- Cherry Lime Aid (new)
- Strawberry Banana
- Berry Blast
- Raspberry Rush
- Pineapple Passion (new)
We tried the Cherry Lime Aid (It’s got to be the local Sonic influence…) but I know we will be hunting them down at HyVee to try the other flavors!
Having 100% of the daily amount of Vitamin C is a great thing for your younger school aged children, who seem to bring home every single cold that runs through their classroom! They could get the same amount of Vitamin C from eating 2 jalapeno peppers – but this is a much tastier option.
If you are looking for something new to try — why wait for the hot summer days to get them? Miss Sarah gives them two thumbs up and, as a Mom who tries to watch what my kiddo eats, this definitely makes our list!
