Blogger life is cool — we can do all sorts of cool things and get a ton of cool invites and this was totally of those times: being in LA to see Pete’s Dragon before it hit theaters.
Well — it just totally ROCKED!
I have to admit, I was leery as I usually hate remakes and I was very fond of the classic original. I might have even been around when it was first aired. I think I remember seeing it on Sunday Night’s Wonderful World of Disney Showcase (in color!)
Oh. My. Gosh. it was totally 6pm on ABC, after Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom.
I digress, I shouldn’t have worried as it was a project in Disney’s hands…It is a beautiful remix of the original classic. I laughed, I cried, I was blown away. Just check out the clip:
GO. SEE. IT.
It was a different story line than the original, but fit perfectly in with today’s lifestyle. Not only did it seem very possible to happen, but was so incredibly well done. You will fall in love with Elliot… and probably fall for a younger character than Robert Redford (I am aging myself). If you like the Star Trek reboot, you will find “Dr. McCoy” as a character who redeems himself in the end.
I really don’t want to tell you much more about this film – but I honestly think it is the best family friendly film out so far this year. Don’t worry, it is Disney – they always have a happy ending!
GO. SEE. IT.
Oops, I already said that…
