There IS a celebration early that morning and, everyone relies on a furry rodent to give us hope for an early spring. I beg to differ on a few points though:
1) Punxsutawney Phil is a Rookie. Sun Prairie’s own Jimmy the Groundhog is more accurate.
2) Groundhogs are NOT cute fuzzy little guys. They are a little afraid of the large crowds and tend to bite.
Regardless, I adore that movie and could watch it a thousand times…….
So yes, early in the morning, on February 2nd you will find me, and Miss Sarah at the hoopla. It’s usually freezing cold, there are a lot of TV stations/cameras and it’s a ton of fun! It’s part of a 175 year old tradition in this town and we missed out last year because there was a huge blizzard (kinda like the movie?). It had to be cancelled so it is something we are looking forward to this year.
You can come play too!
Prognostication: Thursday, February 2nd, 7:00 am at Cannery Square. Call 608-837-2511 for more information, but dress warm. Feet get cold faster than you think.
Make sure to mark you calendars for Saturday the 4th — LOT of fun activities are planned!
