I’ve talked over and over about the stickiness that comes with having babies. However, what doesn’t get mentioned as often is how bad they can make your house smell! Normally, when you think of babies you think of that soft, powder smell. Yeah, that’s there for all of 10 seconds directly after they bathe.
We were offered a chance to try Fresh Wave, a line of all natural odor removal products in our home. Fresh Wave brags that they can tackle things like pet smells and diaper pails.
Yeah, I’ve got those. Both of those. Lots and lots of those.
The products arrived in their beautiful packaging with natural ingredients “such as water and plant extracts from lime, pine needle, aniseed, clove and cedarwood” listed on the label and I smirked. Yeah, ok, this will battle the stink that comes with twins and a giant yellow lab, sure. But I had to have faith, this is what makes Fresh Wave different. It’s not just about getting rid of the smells; it’s about doing it only using those natural ingredients.
After getting my pretty photos, I examined the packages and decided the best way to try different forms of Fresh Wave was to follow the suggestions for each product.
First, the Odor Removing Packets.
These little mesh packs are filled with tiny beads made of magic, or something like it. I tossed one in the bottom of the diaper pail and another into the canister of our bag less vacuum. Later that evening when changing the diaper pail my husband asked what the heck I had put in there. It wasn’t that it didn’t still have that special diaper pail smell, BUT it was much milder and there was a very fresh smell mixed in with it.
The packets have turned out to be my favorite product; the number one reason is their sorcery in my vacuum. We vacuum everyday, sometimes more than once. Between the dog and two babies learning to feed themselves, there is never a time when I feel like I can put it away. Tossing the packet into the top of the canister with the filter was a GAME CHANGER. It isn’t that it makes my floor cleaner, but rather the smell that fills the room when we vacuum is fantastic! It’s fresh and light, and natural; I can’t think of a better way to describe it. Kind of like opening all your windows on that first day of spring.
Second, The Spray.
The Spray has also come in very handy with our rugs. Each night once the babies are down, I’ve been spraying all of the rugs. I get that wonderful smell and during the day, while playing with the babies, I’ve noticed the rug doesn’t smell like stale dog as much, which is always a win!
It’s super easy to use. Just shake and spray. You know you have used enough when the room starts smelling fresh.
I also LOVE the lock feature on the pump bottle. I’m terrified of the babies getting a hold of a cleaning product and somehow getting hurt. The simple lock on the sprayer made me feel better that even if they did get their hands on the bottle they wouldn’t have easy access to the liquid.
We were also sent the Fresh Wave gel.
The gel is recommended for when “the whole room stinks”. Yep, I have one of those rooms. It’s where the dog sleeps. Sadly, it’s also where I sleep.
After putting the gel in my room one morning, by the time I went to bed it was filled with a light, fresh scent. The smell of dog was significantly decreased. It wasn’t gone, but it wasn’t overwhelming in comparison to the rest of the house.
