I am a sucker for these at my local TGI Fridays — but hate the hefty price tag with them! When you can get fresh green beans for $0.99/lb or less, it’s hard to pay $6.99+ for less than a pound of them. (sigh)
Thanks to wasabi ranch dressing and chipotle ranch dressing, you can recreate this gem at home, for pennies on the dollar.
TGI Fridays Fried Green Beans
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 pound green beans
Preheat oil to 375 degrees F. (if you oil isn’t hot enough, the beans will be “soggy”).
Combine first 4 ingredients in a small bowl. Put the buttermilk in a different bowl. Dip green beans into buttermilk, then into the flour mixture. Shake off any excess flour. Fry in the hot oil until the flour turns golden brown, about 4 minutes. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate, and serve hot with wasabi ranch dressing. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
