Winter in Wisconsin is nothing to take lightly. We have gotten twenty inches of snow in less than twenty-four hours. We have had schools closed before because it was so cold out that it wasn’t safe for the kids. We spend almost eight months a year trying to get warm and wait for the sun to come out.
OK, I might be starting to exaggerate a bit, but seriously? I keep the woodpile full for as long as I can.
Outdoor attire is no joke here – frostbite is easy to get with serious wind chills and you need to layer up with quality gear.
And then they enter the “Tween” stage….
I see kids at the pick up line after school and shake my head. 11-year-old girls wearing winter boots with 2-inch heels. 11-year-old girls wearing winter boots with flat heels and no tread. 11-year-old girls wearing winter boots that aren’t winter boots but simply dress boots.
What are there parents thinking by saying “yes” to that?
On ice they won’t stay standing, on snow they won’t stay warm, and they have a great chance to break an ankle. Can they go sledding? on long walks?
No, just no.
That is why I was delighted to connect with a company like LUGZ for boots for Miss Sarah! These warm boots not only have a great tread but let me know that I can rest assured that she is set for winter weather. Bonus? They are pretty!
We went with the Women’s Empire HI CR in the Silver Opal color. These shiny silverish boots draw “oohs” and “ahhs” from the other tweens and are starting to create a trend at her school. She has become the “it” girl for winter gear. These gems are water-resistant (snow and slush proof) with a crinkle permahide upper material. Both the tongue and collar are padded so you never feel that edge cut into you. The Flexastride molded memory foam insole provides tons of comfort for those hours of trudging back up the hill for sledding and easy to do with the slip resistant rubber sole.
I love knowing that she is in these boots and she thinks that they are “pretty”.
