Fun fact : At the age of 5 months, babies will sleep about 14 hours a day. That sure sounds like most of the day… Until it’s time to entertain them when they aren’t eating or snuggling.
We are big believers in the “no TV for infants rule” which often leaves us with two bored babies. We play, and sing and use the swing/play mat, but babies need more to entertain them than just their mom.
Manhattan Toys has a solution for bored babies like mine. They provided us with two of their adorable Baby Bells for Jonathan and Annabelle to
chew review for them.
I handed Annabelle the owl on Saturday morning. She was a VERY big fan of the owl’s crinkle paper wings, which almost immediately went into her mouth. She chewed away happily for a while, giving me time to do important things, like brush my teeth. All was well until she dropped the owl, then I had a problem. Thankfully the baby bells have a built in clip, so I was able to attach it to her bouncer making it harder for her to lose it.
The next morning Annabelle and I decided to use the Bunny Baby Bell during tummy time. The Bunny did a great job of getting her to lift her head (most moms know just how much babies LOVE tummy time right?). She didn’t fuss or whine for a full 5 minutes while we played with the bunny. The flat mirrored bottom of the Baby Bells make them perfect for sitting up in front of baby. This encouraged her to keep her head up, and she attempted to move closer to the bunny!
For me, one of my biggest fears is giving one of the babies something that is going to come apart and hurt them. So many toys have sharp edges, or they get gnawed on for a few days and the stuffing starts to come out. I was very happy with they way the Baby Bells are constructed, the stitching is very strong, the mirror is made of a baby safe plastic, and everything is super easy to wipe clean. So far these have been dropped, dragged, chewed on, pulled on and yet, they have not started to come apart at all.
While Jonathan was not in a camera friendly mood either morning, he has taken his turn with the Baby Bells, and love the chime that is held in each. He giggles and coos at the owl and bunny while smacking them to make them ring.
The Baby Bells have become a regular part of our toy circulation and with their compact size, a go to when on the go!
**Disclaimer: we were sent the Baby Bells in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are entirely our own, and all Baby Bells are now covered in drool.
