I just feel that her statement is incorrect.

If everyone only surrounded themselves with people who
lifted them higher, made them feel better, made them comfortable, etc – then there would be an awful lot of people that are ignored.
Many people don’t fall in those categories.
They are having a difficult time in life with the
current economy and it’s circumstances.
This is a rapidly growing number of people,
and it’s bound to get much worse before it gets better.
Here is the thing: that is when they need US.
No matter how bad we might think our situation is,
I am not talking about just giving someone money.
You can help out at a homeless shelter, food pantry, animal shelter, community meal program…
There are really a LOT of options out there, once you start looking.
