In this age of childhood obesity and “I can’t set down my phone” we are always looking for ways to increase activity in our family while keeping it fun at the same time. PaddleZlam is a cool outdoor game that matches that goal!
This simple game has 2 cones, 4 paddles and a pickleball – but packs an activity punch. It is designed to combine precision paddling volleying, running and mental strategy at the same time. It gives players cardio, muscular endurance and strength in both arms and legs…says the company. We just thought it was plain old fun and you don’t really “get” the fact you are working out because you are having a fast paced blast against the other team. The girls had surprisingly amazing paddle skills and rarely dropped the ball.
So, how do you play PaddleZlam?
You set up your “goals” which are the cones. You have to score 21 points to win and direct the pickleball through use of the paddles. You aim for the hole in the side of the cone or try to get the ball down the center of it to score. Our fierce competitors liked to go for the side slam and ended up playing three rounds their very first time.
This gem can be played in the yard, at the beach or even in the driveway — it’s very portable which makes it a perfect park or beach game! We chose to take it to a family picnic and let the kids go crazy. The players with paddle experience (think ping pong or badminton) had an edge over the others in the beginning but they quickly evened out and entertained the adults watching from the deck.
You can find PaddleZlam at Target for just $39.99
