If you haven’t noticed, children are typically famished by the time they get home from school. Therefore, having some healthy yet inexpensive snacks on hand for after school munching is essential. Take a peek below at some easy and inexpensive after school snacks that you can try!

1. Fancy bananas.
Place a banana in a bowl or even on a stick and dress it up with all kinds of toppings. Peanut butter, yogurt, chocolate chips, and even syrup are all fancy ways of dressing it up! Let kids get creative and have fun.

2. Tasty wheat roll ups.
Take a whole wheat tortilla and fill it with fillings of your choice. Peanut butter and jelly, cucumbers and ranch, or ham and cheese are all excellent choices and quite tasty.

3. Frozen fun.
Puree fruit along with fruit juices and freeze them in popsicle trays. These frozen treats are a sweet snack to enjoy after school especially on hot days.

4. Pretzels and dip.
Pretzels can be dipped in mustard, ranch, cheese, even peanut butter. Offer some pretzels along with an assortment of dips to enjoy.

5. Make your own snack mix.
Offer small candies, nuts, dried fruit, and crackers for children to make their own snack mix. They can create a mix to their liking with ingredients of their choice.

6. Tasty pockets.
Take a pita pocket and stuff it with cheese, peanut butter, veggies and dip, or even pasta sauce. You can heat them up in the microwave or serve them cold. Stuff the pocket with ingredients of your choice and enjoy!

7. Stuffed baked potatoes.
Heat a potato in the microwave and then stuff it with cheese, bacon bits, butter, or even chives. This is a hearty snack perfect for healthy appetites.
