Being a parent is one of the most rewarding jobs you can do in your life but if you have kids, you know just how expensive those little kiddos can be. When it comes to buying food, toys, clothes, diapers, wipes, etc. things start to add up like crazy and that can be extremely stressful on a parent. However, it also motivates you to want to save on those things. That is why I’m going to be telling you a few of my personal tips and tricks for saving on your baby essentials.

-Coupons: Coupons are often available for baby items such as diapers and wipes in the Sunday paper and in store ads. I highly recommend using these as they will save you a TON of money in the long run. I like to stockpile my coupons and then go to the store every so often and buy my baby needs in bulk. Usually buying in a bulk saves a bit of money anyway, but then I have a few coupons to use in conjunction with those savings.
-Hand Me Downs: There is definitely nothing wrong with taking leftovers. I love to swap things with my friends and family. We don’t have babies all at the same time so as the kids grow out of things, the little children are able to take them over. I recommend taking any hand me downs that are offered to you.
-Re-sale Shops: A lot of times you can find very gently used clothing and baby equipment at re-sale shops such as Once Upon a Child. These places tend to be very reasonably priced, as well as having sales pretty often. You can find some really great name-brand items that will not break the bank.
-Cloth Diapering: An awesome way to save on diapers is to actually switch to cloth diapering as opposed to disposable diapers. Some people find this a bit intimidating at first because of the cloth clean up but I promise it’s not so bad at all. Purchasing cloth diapers saves you a ton of money in the long run.
-Do It Yourself: Lastly, baby food can get to be pretty expensive. Here is how you can save! Simply make the baby food yourself. Not only is this a much healthier, natural way of feeding your baby but it will also save you a ton of money. You can buy fresh fruits and veggies and puree them yourself where you can freeze them and make up a bunch of food for your baby.
I know being a parent can be extremely expensive but there are a bunch of ways to save a little bit of money. Use these tips and trust me you will begin to see how much you are saving.
