However, the dentists in the Madison area ARE buying it, literally!
They are giving kids $1/# for the candy and then, still sending it to the troops. An enterprising kiddo could easily make $10-15 for all those extra peanut taffy things……LOL!

Lifetime Family Dentistry will hold a candy buyback program from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at its office at 8313 Greenway Blvd., Suite 150 in Middleton. Dentists will pay children $1 per pound of candy, up to 5 pounds. The purchased treats will be shipped to U.S. troops in addition to toothbrushes, floss, toothpaste and letters to soldiers that children can write and decorate at the office.
Hilldale Dental is offering the same deal — $1 per pound of candy up to 5 pounds — from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the office at 4414 Regent St.
A group of Meriter pediatricians is hosting the first Meriter/Physicians Plus Halloween Candy Trade-in Party from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Meriter West Washington Clinic, 345 W. Washington Ave., Suite 100. At this event, candy will be exchanged for fresh fruit from Fresh Madison Market and a chance to win prizes. Collected candy will be sent to U.S. troops overseas through Operation Gratitude.
