**I was given a complete SodaStream kit FREE to review, and one FREE for a reader. All thoughts and comments about it are entirely my own.
About a month ago, I was sent this GREAT package full of incredible things to play with: A SodaStream kit!
Now — I had known that this existed, but never had considered the idea of getting one. After playing with this, I can’t figure out what the heck I was thinking about, LOL!
We LOVE this thing!
It is economical, earth friendly AND fun, not to mention the simple fact that the soda tastes good.
When I was first putting it together, I was a little confused: it was TOO simple to put together. No plug, super light, and just a canister to attach. I really thought there would be more to it — but it was that easy.
The kit comes with (2) two 1 L bottles…but I had to get a few more from Amazon: Sodastream 1l Carbonating Bottles- Black (Twin Pack) for $19.95. I HATE to ice soda and water it down, so we filled our bottles with water and popped them in the fridge…so they would be ready to go.
The SodaStream is SUPER easy to use — just screw one of those bottles into the machine and push down. Tap the top three times and you have fizzy water. No more buying Pelligrino for us anymore. (Sorry Pelligrino makers) We LOVE Italian sodas and would get Torani Syrup ,
OK, it gets better: the SodaStream is cost effective in other ways — you can make fizzy water and just add a little something from a Flavor Kit and then, no more buying bottles of flavored seltzer! (They can be used to flavor sodas too – think lemon cola!)
Funny, how we played with the SodaStream and didn’t have any soda yet…but that came!
We used the SodaStream on our Disney vacation — we actually took our made up 1L bottles of soda in the cooler, with us, on the road. No more stopping for any fast food drinks on the way!
I crunched the math — including the cost of the CO2, you can EASILY get soda for 1/3 of the normal price of cans and 2L bottles at the store.
Just one tip on your SodaStream : tip the bottle a bit before adding ANY flavoring or soda syrup. You need to let a little of the CO2 gas out of you will make a bit of a mess. (not that we made a mess here, ahem)
You save a LOT of money on new CO2 canisters – buy turning your empty ones in. Instead of $29.99 each, they are just $14.99 and you can get them anywhere from Target to HyVee.
NOW — it’s time to talk about eco friendly:
Being in Tupperware for 20 years, I am all against the “use it once and throw it out” philosophy. From sandwich baggies to water bottles, I have been shocked at how we fill the planet with stuff that can’t bio-degrade. Just look at this picture (courtesy of SodaStream) :
So — here is the good thing: One lucky Reader will get a SodaStream of their own, with a 12 pack of flavors to try… easily over a $100 value!
Best of luck to you —
