This new 2-in-1 imaginative play toy from John Deere is both truck and animal. This John Deere Monster Tread Dump Truck comes with a silicon type armor that goes over the truck. When the armor is on the truck turns in to a bull included with animal sounds. When the armor is removed the Dump Truck sounds and shakes like a real dump truck…how cool is that for your favorite little John Deere enthusiast?
As you can see in this photo my 4 almost 5 year old product tester is just jumping out of his skin to have mom finish the photos and rip open that box. Once we got the truck out of the box we found out some interesting facts:
Fact One: The bull armor is a silicon type armor which bends and flexes. This is great because the nighttime treks through the dark house will not end with you stepping on something sharp and hard, but this will bend and flex under your foot. We did find that Mom or Dad has to put this on for the smaller fellas. Though it bends and is flexible it is a bit tricky to maneuver onto the vehicle. My 3 and almost 5 year old needed help, but the 6 and 8 year old were able to get it on and stay on by themselves.
Fact Two: You can’t get the truck to make the bull sound without the armor on and situated properly. No matter how many times you push the button it will not sound like a bull with out it on (TRUST ME.. my kids have maxed out the button, Luckily this vehicle does come with 3 AAA batteries that could easily disappear if you need)
Fact Three: This vehicle does in fact bounce, if it is wearing it’s armor and is dropped from knee height to above head height and seems to not be worse for wear.
Items I am a bit concerned about but have yet to find any thing to happen. The wheels are in a slot type mount so that the vehicle can jerk and bounce. So far they are holding well and I have yet tried to pick and pry at them to see how durable they really are, but if anyone could test those axils my 4 boys sure could. So with that said, so far we are good. Also, as mentioned above, it is a little hard to get the silicon bull armor on for the little guys but I think with more practice they will get better at it.
After receiving this toy my son played with it in the box waiting ever so patiently (NOT) for mom to finish chatting with Dannelle. He had at least 30 min of just in the box fun before we removed it and then proceeded to play from about noon till 3 when his big brother came home from the bus and joined in. This toy has received hours and hours of play. As a truck we have seen a monster truck rally over a line of matchbox cars… It has taken the Little People Farm animals around the farm… The bull has scared away the evil Robot… But most of all it has been hours of fun on its own and I love to see the imagination pouring out of my guys.
This John Deere Monster Treads truck would make a great Birthday, Christmas or just for fun gift for any of the little boys or girls in your life.
