We TRY to shop the perimeter of the store and stay with “whole foods”, cooking a lot of meals from scratch, but there are things we have to watch out for there too! Trying to figure out what has been put into the foods we want to buy can be a tough job!
This was so much easier before the age of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) and meats injected with Antibiotics, Hormones and Preservatives – not to mention all the pesticides you find on fresh produce.
We try to buy dairy products that are BGH free as they have linked it to young girls developing earlier – and when that happens, they have a higher risk of developing certain female cancers. (Not to mention what it does the to poor cows…)
We buy the items off the “dirty dozen” list as organics or grow our own…
We look for meats like the Sentry Foods chickens that are hormone free and antibiotic free…
