Whether you’re looking to add a little extra to your vacation fund, or just make enough to live more comfortably, generating extra income is a great idea. It might be unrealistic to get a second job due to hours you already work, childcare, or something else. However, there are still ways to bring in some extra dough and not work yourself to death!
This one might seem like something you should be having your kids do (which is also an option), but sometimes it’s a great way to pull in a little extra cash for whatever you might need it for. Even just one or two nights a week would bring in close to $50, depending on your rates. That’s a whole tank of gas for most people, so when you put it in to perspective, if you like kids – this is a great way for you to generate some income.
2. Paper routes.
Picking up a paper route is something that makes a nice extra “cash cushion” and doesn’t take much time! It’s an early rise job, so if you’re not able to accommodate these hours, it might not be an option for you. Paper routes bring in a little extra income, and are typically always available for hire.
3. Become a virtual assistant.
This is a great option for anyone wanting to generate the extra income from home! All you need is a computer and a skill to offer to clients, and you’re off! Sit down and think about your talents and how you can offer them in a business setting. Whether it’s article writing, social media managing, or something entirely different, this is an awesome way to get some extra cash!
4. Clean houses.
Cleaning houses is very simple, and actually not as bad as most people would think. You can post on local yardsale pages on Facebook, as most areas have them or even make print out signs and hang them around local businesses and such. Charge a reasonable amount, because you are working and you need to charge as such. It can be easy to undersell yourself, so make sure you make it worth your time because your time is important.
5. Dog walking and/or pet sitting.
It’s not nearly as common anymore, because lots of people walk their own dogs or take them wherever they go, but there are still people out there who look for reliable dog walkers and pet sitters. With dog walking and pet sitting, if the client likes you, they’ll often be repeat customers! Do a good job, and you may have just created a reliable stream of income for yourself.
It’s important to note that you’re not limited to just one of these streams of income. The best advice I can give is to have multiple streams of income open so that you always have something coming in, no matter how small. Every little bit helps, and you’ll be glad you started generating the extra cash when you’re able to live a little more comfortably!
