When taking the Zojirushi Micom Rice Cooker and Warmer out of the box, it looks modern and has a sleek design. I simply love the clear coat stainless stain design, modern look and it is versatile for any kitchen.
Micom stands for Micro Computerized. This means that there is a microchip inside the rice cooker that is in control of cooking perfect rice. What this means in practice is that it can make changes to the length of time your rice cooks for as well as the temperature inside the cooking bowl. With triple heat from the bottom, side, and top means no hot spots while cooking, only even coking during the process.
The bowl includes easy to read measure makings. So, add 2 cups of rice, add water to the matching two cup line. Easy to read LCD screen with timer. On the screen you have choices from brown rice, white rice/ mixed, quick, sushi, long grain white, and steel cut oatmeal. Also includes a keep warm setting for when the cooker is complete yet you’re waiting for something to finish or finish getting ready before opening it up. Comes with a measuring cup, rice spoon, and a holder for the spoon.
Let’s talking about using the Zojirushi Cooker…
The first thing I wanted to try was steel cut oats because sometimes I don’t like hovering over the stove while cooking my oats. I could think of other things I could do during the 30-45 minutes it takes to cook. So, I added a cup of oats, then added water to the matching one cup line. Closed the lid, made sure the arrow was over steel cut oats and pressed start. Timer says 55 minutes, wait 55 minutes I don’t have to stand over the stove. I was jumping for joy and doing my happy dance in the kitchen.
When I heard the music it plays to let you know it’s complete, . I opened the lid and was shocked how fluffy the oats looked. Yes, I tasted right from the bowl because I was like no way is it cooked!!
Wow. Just Wow. The oats were cooked to perfection. This is the only way I cook oats now, in this Zojirushi Cooker.
One night I was making stir-fry, pulled out the Zojirushi Cooker to cook, of all things, my rice. Just like it says, I added two cups of rice and then added water to matching line on the bowl. Pressed start and waited 50 minutes for the rice to be cooked.
I did my little happy dance to the music telling me it was done and opened the lid and had the same effect of me. The rice looked so fluffy like a pillow I just wanted to crawl inside the bowl for a nap. Simply amazed how the rice came out cooked and I didn’t have to do anything yet push a button. I would recommend this to anyone who would like to enjoy do other things while cooking in the kitchen. Zojirushi Micom Rice Cooker & Warmer is a must have!
